To finish off Battery Day, Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, showed a video of the much-anticipated Plaid version of its Model S sedan. Tesla showed video last year of a car equipped with three motors performing a lap on Laguna Seca in just 1 minute and 36 seconds. According to Elon Musk, it was it was able to get that same lap done in 1 min and 30 seconds on Sunday. That’s a whopping 6 seconds faster. Elon musk said that time could be lowered by even more, another three seconds. If it can manage that, it would break the record for fastest production vehicle of any type.

This (even)high(er)-performance Model S will be available for purchase as soon as next year. There is a lot to love about this car. The new Model S will have a 0-60 MPH time thats under 2 seconds, 1,100 horsepower of motive power, and a 200MPH top speed. Range is just as amazing at 520 on a single charge. You can pre-order the vehicle now on Tesla’s webisite immediately. Its important to note that the asking price for this model is is $139,000 before the ZEV credit, so its easily $50,000 more than the Performance trim Model S that has ‘Ludicrous’ mode.
