Tesla’s ‘battery day’ presentation is almost here. It’s scheduled for tomorrow after it was rescheduled from an earlier April date due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We were expecting Tesla to have developed at least one new type of battery cell technology that will help it stay ahead in the quickly-growing EV market.

But Elon Musk had this to said, ‘What we announce will not reach serious high-volume production until 2022.’ So, this new tech will more than likely end up in Tesla’s upcoming Semi, Cybertruck and Roadster. Elon also mentioned that Tesla plans to increase its battery cell purchases from partners such as LG and Panasonic. He also said, however, that Tesla will have to take action to avoid shortages, hinting at Tesla getting into cell manufacturing. There is all just speculation, but we will find out just what Tesla has up its sleeve when the presentation takes place tomorrow, with the Annual Meeting of Stockholders and Battery Day event. The meeting will start at 4:30PM EST.
