Even though the nVidia GeForce RTX 3090 is now available for pre-order, soon, you may still find it difficult to actually get one. In a blog post, Team Green ‘pre-apologize’ for the future lack of supply. nVidia stressed that it’s the card is strictly designed for enthusiasts.

Since we built GeForce RTX 3090 for a unique group of users, like the TITAN RTX before it, we want to apologize upfront that this will be in limited supply on launch day. We know this is frustrating, and we’re working with our partners to increase the supply in the weeks to come.

The graphics giant touted the GeForce RTX 3090’s flag-ship status, saying that is engineered for ‘creators making movies and rendering cinematics’ and ‘extreme gamers’. They are able to back up that claim on account of the RTX 3090’s 24GB of GDDR6X memory and 10,496 CUDA cores. The new owner of ARM holdings went on to mention that the 3090 will provide around a 10 to 15 percent performance increase than a GeForce RTX 3080. So, the RTX 3090 represents only a 15% increase in performance while increasing cost by over 100%.

That being said, it still won’t stop people from buying the flag-ship graphics cards to resell them for a profit. I mean, think about it. This was already the case with the RTX 3090. The RTX 3080 Founders Edition instantly sold out and started showing up on eBay with insanely high prices just moments after it went on sale.
