Adobe may just have a solution for blurry footage. Between less-than-ideal lighting and your parkinson’s-like camera shaking, footage you take with your DSLR, phone, or point-and-shoot might not turn out the way you thought it would. It could be too blurry for several different reasons. And FYI, it’s pretty difficult (almost impossible) to increase the clarity of photos or videos post-shoot. When trying to do this, the end result is often no-good. That is, until now.
Introducing Adobe Sharp Shots
Abobe demoed an experimental feature that’s called ‘Sharp Shots‘. The new software is made possible by its Sensei AI, which uses machine learning to ‘deblur’ a photo or each frame. The company shared a few videos that showed a huge increase in image detail when using their machine learning-based tool. The most difference can be seen in the final example, where facial features are highlighted.
Artificial Intelligence is what’s making many of Adobe’s most interesting new software possible. As in Photoshop, where Atificial Intelligence will soon let users add dramatic skies in images.
This is just the latest in a string of interesting examples of the power of Artificial Intelligence. Its awesome to see Abobe demo this. It seems like AI can do almost anything. Boy, have we come so far from the days of CPU powered characters in basic games. If you are who remembers the 90s, that were referred to as AI. As the AI landscape evolves, as does our definition of what artificial intelligence is. If you really take the time to think about it, AI isn’t so artificial, after all.
The impact and capabilities of AI are certainly not artificial. I propose that a reasonable term for it would be something along the lines of ‘computer intelligence’, ‘machine intelligence’, or maybe even just ‘intelligence’. How about that? I mean, that’s what it is. It’s the intelligence of one or more persons (the programmer[s]), at least parts of it, that’s all rolled into this one thing that has a relatively specific purpose. If you put any thought at all into it, that’s all an application truly is. A way for humans to extend their will. A developer’s intentions are then distributed in software and in that way, can become immortal.
