New pro-grade GPUs are coming out soon! nVidia now has a new solution for professionals. So, that’s always a good thing. There are a lot of professionals that want to use nVidia’s new Ampere architecture. These GPUs are extremely powerful. The GeForce RTX A6000 and A40 are nVidia’s latest pair of powerful cards. These new professional class GPUs easily out-perform the $1,499 RTX 3090. This makes sense. These cards have 48GB of VRAM. They also have 10,752 CUDA cores! These new chips are the successors to the GeForce RTX 8000 and 6000 Quadro cards, therefor, you may want to hold off on that new CGPU purchase. This is worth waiting for. We aren’t sure why nVidia is dropping the Quadro branding, though.
We still don’t know these Pro-Grade GPUs clock speeds
We aren’t quite sure about those pesky clock-speeds just yet. Team Green hasn’t said anything about them. These pro-grade graphics cards are going to be really fast, though. So, they are mich higher-end versions of the RTX 3080 and 3090. These cards have the same GA102 found the aforementioned high-end graphics cards. They are identical compared to each other in almost all ways. The only differences are that the A40 has a passive cooler and slower 14.5 Gbps memory. Another thing, these cars run the slower GDDR6 RAM, rather than GDDR6X like the consumer cards use.
First of all, these are business-class cards. They are made for professionals that actually need the horsepower. So, these cards aren’t meant for games. For professional users these pro-grade GPUs are perfect. The A40 has a passive cooler, so it’s going to be a great choice for dense server environments. This cards include three DisplayPort connections. Passively cooled cards were previously meant for head-less computing tasks. Those cards didn’t have any video connections at all. Team Green is really proud of these GPUs. The RTX A6000 will be available by mid-December, and the A40 will arrive sometime next year.
