Remember. These are UserBenchmark numbers. It’s not verified real world performance by any means. There are times, however, when these kinds of results deserve to be brought to attention simply because of how ridiculous they are.
Here, we see the yet-to-be-released Intel Core i7-11700K absolutely destroying everything on the chart.
The thing is, this is not even the most powerful chip in Intel’s new lineup. If the 11700K is actually this powerful, imagine what the Intel Core i9-11900K will be able to do.
The results seen in UserBenchmark for the Intel Core i7-11700K are currently based on only 4 samples. The AMD chips in the list have been benchmarked thousands of times.
The table below shows average scores are really shows what Rocket Lake-S is capable of:
Intel Core i7-11700K | AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
1-core | 182 points | 159 points | 159 points |
2-core | 364 points | 317 points | 314 points |
4-core | 707 points | 605 points | 605 points |
8-core | 1,240 points | 1,176 points | 1,190 points |
Benchmark % | 113% | 101% | 101% |
If you add up all the points that UserBenchmark gives for the normal, heavy, and sever categories, you can see a different performance picture starting to form. This is because of the extra cores that AMD chips have. In the case of the Ryzen 9 5900X, there are 12, and for the Ryzen 9 5950X, a whopping 16.
Intel Core i7-11700K | AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
Normal | 213 points | 188 points | 187 points |
Heavy | 973 points | 890 points | 898 points |
Server | 1,651 points | 2,348 points | 2,920 points |
Total | 2,837 points | 3,426 points | 4,005 points |
It is well established that UserBenchmark points lean heavily towards workloads that use less cores. That generally turns out to be in Intel’s favor. The i7-11700K’s performance has already been leaked several times. It seems to have about an 11% lead over the AMD Ryzen 5000 in single-cores benchmarks. Seeing it do over 16% better in quad-core tests is kind difficult to accept.
